PROCESS

Encaustic is a wax-based paint, composed of clear beeswax, resin, and pigment.  It is a multi-step process. Placing the paint on a heated palette, the wax becomes liquified. The molten wax is then applied to a porous, yet rigid, surface. Fusing the applied wax to the working surface with heat, allows a strong bond to form. When the paint is fully cooled, it can be buffed to bring up a beautiful luster.
